The Covey Theater Company has produced high-quality productions throughout the theater spaces of Central New York since 2010. Now, we will have a home of our own. The Grove Theater, located at 439-445 Hawley Ave, started its 100 year life as The Avon cinema in 1926. Renovations, started in 2025 by Crawford & Stearns and PM Chris Parker, will turn the space into a live theater venue. Boasting a 152 seat theater and bar, The Grove will also feature two residential units, and one commercial storefront. Community groups may rent the theater. Opening night will occur in the Fall of 2027.

But we need your help. The Grove Theater LLC has already raised $380,000 in city, state, and federal grants, via grant-writer Sarah Stephens, but it’s not enough to cover the 1.5 million dollar renovation. Covey patrons now have the ability to take part in this once-in-a-generation achievement through the Covey Capital Campaign. Our goal to is raise $250,000 in individual and corporate donations to outfit the space with state-of-the-art seating, curtains, lighting, and sound equipment. Through your generosity, we’ve already raised $30,000.
